A report we sighted on Graphic.com.gh, the Gyaasehene of Gomoa Akramang in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, Nana Egyir I, has been shot dead.
The incident was said to have happened Monday morning at the “Tipper junction” in Akramang.
The Chief linguist of the town, Nana Adu, confirmed the incident and said the traditional authorities were meeting on the incident.
The Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Irene Oppong, said the Kasoa Divisional Command received a distress call from Gomoa Akramang indicating that Nana Egyir Ahor had been attacked by a mob of his own community at Akramang after he allegedly shot and injured one of the youth in the Akramang town on Sunday evening.
She said the police proceeded to the scene only to find the body of Nana Ahor in a pool of blood in front of his house. Bullet shells, a pestle soiled with blood and a blood-soaked shirt belonging to the deceased Chief was found at the crime scene.
It is not immediately known the motivation for the cold-blooded murder of the chief.
Some residents of the town, however, believe that the Chief’s murder could be linked to land issues. Some have alleged that aside he being a chief he doubles as a handguard.
His death follows another high profile royal, Nana Oheneba Kwadwo Fodour, the Asampohene of Kumasi who was murdered on 18th August 2019 Sunday, while plying Ejura- Nkoranza road.
