Ghanaian rapper, Eno demonstrated a weird stagecraft at the Ghana Meets Naija concert which has since sent tongues wagging. The Kumasi-based musician was clad in a black hoodie which resembles a swimming costume. Furthermore she emerged from a ‘real’ coffin right on stage before she swung to her performance.

Ghanaians have since tried to interpret what the whole thing was all about. Others condemned her for acting ‘devilish.’ Reacting to this, Eno said, “A lot of people were bashing me on social media so I realized maybe my fans didn’t want me to wear that. I don’t perform for myself; I do it for my fans so maybe I’m not going to repeat that,”

she said on 3FM’s Showbiz927, Saturday.

Eno further dispelled assertions that she showed skin on the night. “I was covered from head to toe. The only place that was showing was my face. I was wearing a stocking that was the same color as my skin,”

she noted.

Touching on her entry, the rapper told host Nana Kwadwo Addo that, “The whole concept behind the act was the resurrection of Yaa Asantewaa. I’m the Yaa Asantewaa of the rap game in Ghana.

Yaa Asantewaa fought for her empire. When the kings were taken to exile, she stood in front of the men and went for the battle. So the guys [you saw on stage] represented the men coming to take me, Yaa Asantewaa, from the grave, put me in front of the battle, which is the stage, to fight.

There was nothing evil about that. It’s an act; I’m supposed to make it look real. It was just dancing moves, costumes, lighting and effects.”
