Ace journalist Afia Pokua known well as Vim Lady has disagreed with the Member of Parliament representing the Ablekuma West Constituency and Minister of Communication, Ursula Owusu Ekuful over her GHc100 Momo transaction comment.

Recall that the member of Parliament Ursula Owusu said that anyone who is able to send an amount of GHc 100 via mobile money transaction is a rich person. Her comment comes after the public lambasts the government over the 1.75 E-levy that is about to be charged on the Momo transaction.

During her political show “Egyaso Egyaso”, the host, Vim Lady said it was wrong for the member of parliament to say that people who are financially stable are the ones who can send GHc100 every day through mobile money transactions.

”I completely disagree with Honorable Ursula Owusu’s assertion that as long as someone can send one hundred (100) Ghana cedis, then that person is rich. People borrow monies from banks to transact businesses and so if a market woman has borrowed money and transferred same to supplies, it does not mean that person is rich. People are really suffering and hungry too” she reiterated.

Afia Pokua further added that a lot of people who do business online by transacting monies using mobile money do not guarantee that they are rich but most people are doing businesses using loans taken from financial institutions.
