Speaking in an interview on Happy FM, Antoine Semenyo stated that he wishes to better Asamoah Gyan in the upcoming FIFA World Cup and he hopes to project the name of Ghana through the Ghana Black Stars by scoring more goals just like Asamoah Gyan did.

This was when the young talented footballer who is yet to feature in the Ghana Black Stars team was asked who from the Black Stars team influenced his football career.

“As a young boy watching Ghana, he was obviously the person everyone looked up to. He was the striker that scored the goals and as a young player for me, I also want to score goals as well so every time I watched him he scored goals and I was like, ‘I want to be like him

“, he said.

“So I am aspiring to be like him and hopefully I can be better than him – that will come with time,” he added.

However, Antoine also revealed that England has already approached him with a deal to play for them but he feels better playing for his home country, Ghana. He also mentioned the claims of the existence of black magic in Ghana’s football don’t matter to him as his main focus is to play for his motherland.

“Those narratives [of black magic in the Black Stars] do not matter to me. I just want to play for Ghana and represent my home country“, he noted.

Meanwhile, Antoine Semenyo is yet to play for the Ghana Black Stars and is expected to play in the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
