Speaking at the Appointment Committee during his vetting, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum said that he will continue to impact knowledge into students in classrooms after he has been given the job as the Education Minister.

“I’m a ‘teacher-in-chief’ and when I become the Minister, you’ll see me with a marker teaching in the classroom”, he said.

The educationist also pledged to support brilliant but needy students in deprived communities, helping them get to the University to achieve their goals in life.

Dr. Adutwum also proposed that the Ghana Health Service and the Ghana Education Service collaborate to make schools safer for students amid the COVID-19 crisis.

“The schools will be a safer environment than the home if we’re ahead of the disease in terms of decision-making, therefore, the Ghana Education Service and Ghana Health Service have been collaborating to achieve that objective,” he said.

Meanwhile, many have called on the government of Ghana to close down schools following the rapid spread of the deadly coronavirus in the country.
