Akuffo Addo

“I shall protect the public purse by insisting on value for money in all transactions…….Public service is just like that; it is not an avenue for making money.”

This was the most emphatic words the President Nana Akuffo Addo made during his inaugural speech at his colourful investiture at the Independence Square on Saturday (January 7).

With the knowledge that massive corruption and dubious scandals characterize his predecessor for which reason they were booted out of power, President Akuffo Addo has pledged his total commitment to safeguard the public purse and channel it to productive use.

The President further implored every Ghanaian to be the driving force behind the change they all expect. “The change we have voted for has to start with each individual. I ask you to be responsible citizens. It is time to define what being a Ghanaian ought to mean. Being a Ghanaian must mean you sign up to a definable code of conduct.”

President Akuffo Addo was sworn in as the 5th President of the 4th Republic of Ghana. Foreign dignitaries and several African Presidents were also in attendance.
