Ghanaian media personality, Nana Romeo Welwele of Accra FM has sent a message to the Inspector General of Police in reaction to the recent murder of a bullion van police officer at Jamestown.

According to Nana Romeo, it has been the norm of most police officers to be using their smartphones when they are on duty.
Speaking on his show, Nana Romeo stated that mostly, police officers who have been charged to guard various institutions and personalities are fond of using their phones even when they are on duty.
He said that the police officers turn to loose concentration on their job while using their mobile phones, giving criminals the chance to invade or attack while security is loosened.
He noted that the use of smartphones at duty has caused more harm than good so, therefore, it will be advisable for police officers to restricted from using their phones on duty.
Nana Romeo urged the Inspector General of Police, James Oppong Boanuh not to allow any police officer on duty to use phones until they have been released of their duties.

Meanwhile, the police have placed ₵20,000 bounty on any who will provide credible information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
This was revealed through Supt. Sheilla Kessie Abayie-Buckman , the Director of Public Affairs who also stated that the police are counting on the general public to help in bringing the culprits to book.
