Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has reiterated the commitment of his administration to protect the lives and property of Abians.

The governor was engaged in a meeting with the Executive Chairmen of Local Government Areas, LGAs, and some stakeholders in the security sector of the state at the Governor’s Lodge, Aba.

He charged the Chairmen of the Local Governments to ensure that they provide extra support for logistics and training to bolster the efforts of the local government.

In his words: “It is your duty to provide extra support for logistics and training… Having laid this plan, I want to state that the LG Chairmen are free to make adjustments according to the peculiarities and circumstances of their various Local Government Areas to make the whole arrangement even more effective. I’m not going to micromanage it.

“What we have been preaching for at the national level is for the federal government to allow the various state governments to have sufficient grip of the security apparatus in the states so that they can take necessary action quickly whenever there is a breach”,

Meanwhile, Okezie Ikpeazu, of Abia State commiserated with his colleague Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State over the death of his father.

Ikpeazu wrote: “For a man who spent a greater part of his life imparting knowledge and inculcating the right values to his pupils and students, a job he did with unwavering dedication, it is no surprise therefore that God granted him the grace to live to see one of his sons rise to become a State Governor in Nigeria.”
