Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has revealed that the sit-at-home order issued by the leadership of the Indigenous  People of Biafra, IPOB, have been hijacked by criminals.

According to Umahi, thugs and criminals have taken advantage of the IPOB sit-at-home order and are using it to cause e mayhem and chaos.

The governor urged the leaders of the southeast to come together and fight the constant insecurity.

Umahi made his submission as he addressed the South East Council of Traditional Rulers during a meeting at the Christian Ecumenical Centre Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.

He said, “We all know that IPOB has been hijacked by cultists and criminals in the society.

“And that is why it is very important that those who said they are fighting for the emancipation, for the freedom of the Igbo land to take a deeper look at our situation today. Why are we still having killings in Southeast, is it still for the same agenda? Are there other things we do not know?

“I know that leaders do not come up to speak in Southeast because of fear of selective killings, but we know all these children, we know their fathers but our leaders in the church, our cultural leaders, your majesties can find a way to begin to talk to our people.

“My advice is that we should do more as leaders of Southeast, to know whether those who said they are fighting for us are really fighting for us.

“You might have been hearing me talking about VAT, our position is that, Southeast you are seeing was the bedrock of the development of this country. We must remember the era of palm oil. We must remember the efforts of Southeast people in the development of every sector of the economy in the whole Nigeria.
