The Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has stated that government will not engage secessionist groups who seeks their independence of an imaginary Western Togoland state.
According to Dr Bawumia,the act by the group is criminal and should not be Condoned else it will be a recipe for more of such cases.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM and monitored by ghgossip.com ,Mr Bawumia further indicated that granting the separatist group audience will open the government up.
“Negotiation with criminals? On what basis? Then we will be open to many things and tomorrow you go somewhere and another group will also come and say they are the northern territories [seeking independence]. It will not happen. It doesn’t make sense,”Vice President Bawumia said.
The Secessionist group blocked major roads leading to Volta Region last week and exchanged gunshots with the police and also burnt a bus at the Ho STC yard this week.
