Although rapper Edem has been consistent in the game with hit songs, he has not been cited as one of the biggest acts in the country and that’s something he feels awful about.
In an interview with Lexis Bill of Joy FM, the rapper said he feels underrated and treated with no respect because he hails from the Volta Region of Ghana.
Edem, born Denning Edem Hotor also added that he has always been paid less as a result of the fact that he is an Ewe.
The Ghetto Arise hitmaker urged Ghanaians to change that prejudice so that there could be progress with respect to national growth and development.
I feel underrated, at a point I feel we are doing much more than we are credited for…I’ve been marginalized but it just doesn’t get to me.
Edem revealed that there was an instance in which he received the least amount among a group of people, because he is from the Volta region.
According to him, he has heard comments such as ‘your place is not big’ He further revealed that some companies are hesitant to go to the region, because they are doubtful of the returns on their investment.
You’ve never seen Mentor go to my region to do a talent search; you’ve never seen Stars of the Future scout anybody in my region.
