Former South African president Jacob Zuma has asked the constitutional council to revoke its ruling that he is guilty of contempt of court.

His legal team led by advocate Dali Mpofu has filed appeal papers just two days before his deadline to hand himself over to the police despite the courts making it clear this week that President Jacob Zuma will not be allowed to appeal his 15-month prison sentence.

They claim 15 months in prison will endanger his health.

Meanwhile, the sentence has sprung up tensions among members of the ANC. From Nkandla to the Nelson Mandela Bay, his supporters say they’re taking a stand.

They organized a match around midday from in Gqeberha to hand over a petition. However, the crowd has since been dispersed by the law enforcement agencies.

According to the eNCA news network, former ANC councillor in the metro Andile Lungisa handed over the petition, which he says will reach President Cyril Ramaphosa.

It states that the judgment against Zuma infringes on his rights.
