Joeboy orignally born Joseph Akinfenwa Donus is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. The singer who gained recognition after posting his cover to Ed Sheeran’s ”Shape Of You” on instagram caught the attention of Nigerian singer Mr. Eazi.
Joeboy after such recognition got signed to Mr. Eazi’s emPawa100, an initiative used to fund talented up and coming musicians. Joeboy was among the first 100 to receive their funding and subsequently winning the emPawa 100 initiative.
He shot his music video ”Faaji” with the grant he made from emPawa.
In 2019, Joeboy smash hit single ”Baby” was released and fast forward it gained over 20 million streams across YouTube and Spotify. In August 2019 his second single ”Beginning” of his much anticipated EP was just a perfect song as it brought in more numbers for the act.
His EP ”Love & Light” in 2019 was released under emPawa Africa and has artiste like Mayorkun who co featured on the song ”Don’t Call Me”.
All Africa Music Awards named Joeboy as the Best Artiste in African Pop and also Soundcity MVP Awards Festival also named him as the Best Pop.
Joeboy has also been nominated for multiple City People Entertainment Awards and The Headies.
