John Dumelo is a Ghanaian actor, farmer and politician. He was born on February 3rd, 1984 to Mr. John Dumelo and Mrs. Antoinette Dumelo at Hohoe in the Volta Region.

He attended Christ The King School in Accra for his basic education and proceeded to Achimota School for his secondary education.

He later futhered at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to study Civil Engineering and went on to GIMPA for his Public Service and Governance.

In the early 90’s he started appeared in the movie titled ”Baby Thief” which brought out his passion for acting. John Dumelo has been the name on the lips of movie lovers as he has blessed numerous homes with his acting skills including movies like ”Adams Apple”, ”A Night With Her”, ”Black Men Rock”, ”Beautiful Ruins” and a host of others.

In 2010, John Dumelo was awarded as the ”Best Actor” in leading role at Nollywood Awards and also Most Promising Actor at Africa Movies Awards. He also won the best actor in a supporting role at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2011. In 2017, He was named as the Best Actor West Africa at the Panafrican Film and Television Festival.

John Dumelo is an entrepreneur aside his acting career. He launched his clothing line (J. Melo) in 2012 and he also known to be involved in crop and animal farming. He is married to Gifty Mawunya Nkornu and blessed with a handsome boy called ”John Dumelo Jnr”.

During the 2016 General Elections in Ghana, John Dumelo was among the most infleuntial celebrities who campaigned for Ex-President John Dramani Mahama and his NDC party. Later that same year rumours were all around that John Dramani Mahama has appointed John Dumelo as Director of Operations for Pro-NDC Youth Group as appreciation and patriotism to the party during their campaign.

In 2019, John Dumelo contest NDC’s parliamentary primaries and won to represent the party in Ayawaso West Wougon constituency in the 2020 general elections.
