The time seems ripe for famous Ghanaian actor John Dumelo to consolidate his political stance as the fresh-faced actor is set to announce his bid to contest for the vacant Ayawaso West Wougon parliamentary seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The Ayawaso West Wougon became vacant following the death of the New Patriotic Party MP for the constituency, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko. The NPP are also battling internally to get a competent person to retain the seat on their behalf,
a situation which has seen the two wives of the former MP at each other’s throat to get the sole ticket for the party.

Some influential party supporters of the NDC have began a vigorous campaign to have John Dumelo get the nod to lead the party in the by-election.

Addressing the media in Accra, spokesperson for the concerned branch executives of Ayawaso West Wuogon, Justice Tsepo stated John Dumelo will be the ideal candidate, to lead the party in the constituency.

“We are gunning for John Dumelo to represent the constituency in the forthcoming by-election. We all know Mr. Dumelo; he has been with the party for a long time, he is in good standing. He has been with us both good and bad times,” he said.

Mr. Tsepo added: “We think this is the right time for us to give the opportunity to [Dumelo to] lead the party in this constituency.

He said although the constituency is mourning the late MP, the NDC cannot take things for granted and watch the seat slipped out of their hands.

“The NPP is preparing and in this case the NDC cannot sit idle and say because we sympathize with them so we will not take any step. So we are only following due process to prepare ourselves before the 60 days elapse,” he stated.
