American football running back, Jonathan Taylor was born on January 19th, 1999 in Salem, New Jersey in the United States of America.

He competes for the National Football League’s Indianapolis Colts (NFL). Taylor established the state record for rushing yards while playing high school football at Salem High School in New Jersey.

Taylor studied at Salem High. He racked up 4,642 rushing yards and 51 touchdowns throughout the course of his high school football career. With 2,815 rushing yards as a senior, he broke the previous record in New Jersey, held by former Wisconsin Badgers running back Corey Clement.

In his senior year, Taylor rushed for 35 touchdowns and scored 37 total touchdowns while averaging 234.6 yards per game. He received the Jim Henry Award during his senior year for being the top high school athlete in the states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.

In track and field, Taylor was a skilled competitor who won two state championships in the 100-meter sprint with a best performance of 10.49 seconds. He committed to play college football at Rutgers University but later changed it to the University of Wisconsin–Madison on November 1, 2016.

Marlon Mack, the Colts’ starting running back, was replaced by Taylor at the beginning of the season. In the opening game of the 2020 campaign against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Taylor made his NFL debut. In the 27-20 defeat, he had six receptions for 67 receiving yards and nine rushes for 22 rushing yards.

Taylor will start at running back for the remainder of the season when it was discovered the day after the game that Mack had torn his Achilles tendon. He had 26 attempts for 101 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown in the following week’s 28-11 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

In Week 6’s 31-27 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, Taylor tallied 115 yards from scrimmage. On November 28, 2020, the team placed him on the reserve/COVID-19 list, and he was activated on December 2.

With more yards and yards per rush than Derrick Henry that week, Taylor won FedEx Ground Player of the Week in that contest. He ran for 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns on 232 tries in the regular season, with just one fumble.

For the Colts’ opening game of the 2021 season, Taylor was selected as the starting running back. In Week 4’s victory over the Miami Dolphins, he gained 103 yards and a rushing touchdown on 16 attempts.
