The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) with the assistance of the Ashanti Regional Police has effected the arrest of gospel artiste, Brother Sammy, following claims of a product that cures HIV/AIDS, reports the Daily Graphic.
A statement issued Saturday and signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the FDA, Delese Darko, said Brother Sammy in a series of videos circulating on social media also claimed that the said product could also cure other chronic diseases.
According to the statement, the Authority has not approved the said product being circulated by Brother Sammy. Consequently, he has been arrested to assist in investigations over the said claim.
“The FDA wishes to inform the general public that it has not registered any product for the cure of HIV/AIDS neither has any approval been given to the said artiste for the production and sale at any FDA regulated product,” the statement said.
Brother Sammy caused a stir recently when a video of him boldly declaring that the holy spirit has instructed him to manufacture some form of oils to cure all sort of ailments hit social media.
His claim attracted much attention because of its magnitude with many suggesting that authorities and policy makers should invite him to explain into details how he made the concoctions to avoid any implications on his prospective gullible consumers.
Bro Sammy, who has a long history with controversies, said in his viral video that his oils or whatever it was could cure HIV, cancer, diabetes and all ailments man is plagued with.
