Government of Ghana has suspended its concession agreement with the Power Distribution Services (PDS). Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is back in full control of power distribution in the country.
This was confirmed by Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah on JOY News with Evans Mensah just this evening.
According to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the PDS contract was suspended by Government because Guarantees seen to be fraught with anomalies, and so Electricity Company of Ghana has been asked with immediate effect to run operations while investigations continue.
In short;
1. Government has suspended the concession agreement with PDS.
2. Energy Commission Ghana has therefore suspended the distribution licence of PDS.
3. ECG is now in charge of power distribution in the country.
