France has defeated Argentina in the first knockout game of the FIFA World Cup in Russia. France teenager, Kylian Mbappe had a sensational game and capped it with scored two superb goals and stunner from Pavard.
Antoine Griezmann had earlier scored from the spot kick when Mbappe was fouled in the box. Argentina scored through a Di Maria goal of the tournament contender, and Ercado’s deflection of Messi’s strike.
Messi collected at the back post and turned into space to fire at goal. His effort struck the legs of his team-mate Mercado in the six-yard box to wrong foot Lloris and the ball trickled into the net.
19-year old Kylian Mbappe showed his class in the game as his intelligence, pace, touch, power and finishing was too much for Messi and his men to handle.
France were the better team by far and Argentina had no inspiration from anyone from their ranks except Di Maria and perhaps Segio Aguero.
The game that had everything was won by the player that has everything.
