Reports reaching us indicate that the Kaduna State Healthcare Workers Unions and Associations is set to embark on an indefinite strike starting on 19th June 2020.
This will be possible if the associations and stakeholders do not reach an agreement on the issue of a 25% deduction from the salaries of its members.

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, there was a suggestion that these health workers will see a deduction of 25% from their salaries, a move that has created a fringe relationship between the Kaduna State government and the state healthcare workers Unions and Associations.
The heads of the unions and the stakeholders have meet and a communique issued showed that all the union leaders were in attendance.

According to the communique, the purpose of the meeting was to review the various engagements of the Unions with stakeholders and out of government.
The stakeholders have revealed their commitment to resolve the issues, however, they asked for about seven to ten days in order to address and resolve all the issues.

The communique further indicated that a 14-day ultimatum was given to the stakeholders to allow them time to intervene as the unions are to continue to engage other stakeholders both in and out of government with a view to resolving the matter.
Furthermore, it was stated that if at the expiration of the 14 days and no agreement has been reached, the unions would be left with no choice than to embark on an indefinite strike on the 19th of June, 2020.
