German midfielder Kai Havertz scored a hat-trick as Chelsea pummeled Barnsley 6-0 in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
It was his first goals for the club, which he joined this summer in in a deal worth about £71m.

Havertz had struggled to make an impact in his first two games but on Wednesday, he proved his worth. He needed just 28 minutes to net his first and then added two in the second half.

Tammy Abraham and Giroud were the other scorers for Chelsea, who progress to the next stage of the competition.
