Minority leader, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has labeled the Trade and Industry Ministry’s planned sale of the Komenda Sugar Factory as a ‘fraud’.

He noted that, the sole decision to sell the Indian government-financed entity is not logical and has the potential to damage the existing relationship between the two governments.

“It is a rip-off to want to sell Komenda Sugar Factory for $12 million. First of all, when was a competitive bid placed for an assessment of it? Who did the technical assessment of it?

“The Minister for Trade and Industry must answer…What he is doing is not in the public’s interest and not in the public good,” , Mr. Iddrisu stated in a recent submission.

The Komenda Sugra Factory, which is a the $35 million factory remains defunct three years after its commissioning.
