Kwami Eugene has beaten other contenders to emerge the winner of 2017 VGMAs Unsung category. The young sensational rapper beat Cina Soul, Aj Lyricz, Afezi Perry, Cj Biggerman and Deon Boakye. The award winner was announced via social media by the organisers, Chaterhouse.

The Unsung category was specifically introduced to offer ‘underground’ musicians the pedestal for greater achievement in their career. The winners are given the chance to mount the big stage at the main event of the VGMA with other established artistes.

This year marks three years since the introduction of the Unsung segment of the VGMA. Previous winners of include Mzvee in 2014, Dark Suburb in 2015 and now Kwami Eugene in 2016.
