A first half penalty which occurred in the 2nd minute of the game and converted by Mohammed Salah and a late goal from Origi were enough to earn Liverpool their 6th title after 20-years when they last won in Istanbul in 2005.
A modern handball, arm in an ‘unnatural position’ earned Liverpool a penalty up came Salah who stepped up and put it to Lloris’s left. The keeper went the right way but couldn’t make it, making it a disastrous start for Spurs and, possibly, the match.
The game was very boring in the first half with Tottenham failing to register a single shot on target in the first half. However, Liverpool were more purposeful and showed their intention to kill the game in the 88th minute when a Milner cross was converted by Origi.
Tottenham failed to clear the corner adequately, and Matip found Origi in the box. He had more than enough time to get his balance, composed himself and shift the ball into his left foot. Unerring finish past Llrois into his bottom-left corner.
