In Quigney, East Cape, South Africa, the mutilated body of a 23-year-old law student named Nosicelo was discovered in a bag.

Some of the victim’s other body parts were discovered in a black garbage bag next to the suitcase, while her head was discovered in a cupboard at her home on Thursday, August 19.

The shocking discovery was made after a driver raised alarm to police patrol at 7 a.m. on Thursday to report a body found in a bag. The 25-year-old suspect was apprehended shortly after police arrived at the crime scene.

Police patrolling the area early on Thursday morning were hailed down by a vehicle who told them what he had witnessed, according to Brig Tembinkosi Kinana.

“On their arrival at the corner of Fleet Street and Fitzpatrick road a suitcase with the body of a 23-year-old female was found. Next to it was a black bag with other body parts. While at the scene, police received information that a 25-year-old suspect believed to be linked to the murder was found and immediately arrested,” Kinana said.

“On further investigation, police discovered a plastic bag with other body parts in a house. She was reportedly studying law at the Fort Hare University in East London,” Kinana added.

Preliminary investigations found that the suspect and the dead had been living together for some time, according to Kinana.

Lt-Gen Liziwe Ntshinga, the provincial police commissioner, denounced the act, which occurred during Women’s Month.

“This is one of the devastating scenes women do not want to see during this Women’s Month. The incident represents a manifestation of the stubbornness of gender-based violence and femicide incidents which are endemic within our society,” Ntshinga said.

Furthermore, Alutha Pasile, the suspect, is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, August 20. He is accused of murder.
