A 30-year-old farmer identified as Mawuli Dossu has been sentenced to a seven-year jail term with hard labor for slashing off the leg of his 2-year-old daughter.

The man who is also a resident at Wawase-Amponsah Junction, near Agona Swedru was convicted on plea and ordered by the court to pay a sum of GHC6,000 as compensation for the minor.

According to the Prosecuting Officer, Inspector Clara Salia, the accused has a misunderstanding with his wife Joana Amewu.

In the course f the argument, the wife cut her husband’s shirt into pieces and Mawuli also cut his wife’s dress into pieces.

Out of anger, Mawuli got hold of a cutlass to slash his wife but she escaped and in his second attempt, the cutlass landed on the right leg of their 2-year-old daughter cutting it off completely.

The victim is currently admitted at the Agona Swedru Municipal Government Hospital for treatment.
