A German-born American known as Stefan Thomas is about to lose a bitcoin gifted to him in 2011 which now worth £180 million after a skyrocketing increase.
Stefan Thomas, from San Francisco who is a computer programmer, is trying to recover a password to his small drive known as IronKey.
The IronKey contain 7,002 bitcoins which is valued at over £25,500 each.
Since March 2020, price of bitcoin has seen an increased of over 720%. The IronKey provides room for only10 attempts of which if all fail, everything is been lost.
Stefen has already attempted 8 times and left with the last two options to determine his luck
Stefan, said.
“I would just lay in bed and think about it.
“Then I’d go to the computer with some new strategy and it wouldn’t work and I’d be desperate again.”
