A guy suspected of being mentally ill was detained in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, for reportedly assaulting a young girl with a hammer.

The culprit beat the youngster twice in the head with a hammer, according to a member of the Yenagoa Central Security nicknamed Yenta Force who released the photographs on Sunday, September 26.

“This man is halfway mad. He used hammer to hit a little girl head two places. Yenagoa Central security A K A YENTA FORCE caught him and took him to the office for prosecution.” the statement read. 

In other news, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State has detained one lsmail Saliu, 25, for allegedly conspiring with a herbalist and another to kill his 14-year-old brother, Azeez Saliu, for a money ritual.

The event occurred at Kosubosu, in the state’s Baruten local government area, according to Babawale Afolabi, a spokesman for the National Security and Civil Defense Commission in Kwara.

“On Friday 13/09/2021, operatives of the NSCDC in Kosubosu divisional office got a distress call from a neighborhood about suspicious movement of certain individuals in their area,” Afolabi stated.

“Some officers in the divisional office with operatives of the Anti-Vandal patrol team in the area swung into action and subsequently arrested a herbalist Ahmed Nkwe, 44, lsmaila Saliu 25, and Saliu Ahmed, 30”.

The defendants allegedly lured the deceased to a farm where he was allegedly “gruesomely murdered by his own blood brother, lsmail Saliu,” according to the investigation.

The suspects’ luck eventually ran out when they were apprehended by NSCDC officers on their way back from the farm.

“The prime suspect, who is a brother to the deceased has confessed to having personally beheaded his brother with the help of the herbalist and one other person.” he added. 

The state Commandant of the Corps, lskil Makinde, had also directed the accused to be turned over to the police for further investigation and prosecution, according to the statement.
