Several people have lost their lives following a huge explosion at Apiate, a town between Bogoso And Bawdie in the western Region of Ghana.
According to sources, the explosion which occurred during the late of hours of Thursday, January 20 was caused by a collision between a vehicle transporting mining explosives and a tricycle.
Videos circulating online shows an entire community being razed down by the explosion. Casualties are currently being taken to various hospital and clinics within the municipality.
The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement urging residents in Apiate, Bogoso and Bawdie to remain calm as they provide emergency services to the affected. They have not yet confirmed the number of casualties.
