Age is just a number and this maxim applies perfectly to this granny who is still winning bodybuilding competitions when many folks his age are in poor health and nursing homes.
His name is Robert Jackson and he is from Texas, US. He has been doing this for over 40-years ago and still going strong. On his birthday (April 8), he took first place in two divisions at a competition in Fort Worth.
“The more I do it, the more I want to do. You get this old, I’m not supposed to be lifting that much. I keep going. I lift weights, but not like I used to.”
Mr. Jackson was a former footballer in the 60s, but in 1968 he was drafted and sent to Vietnam by the U.S. Army. His professional career ended after coming back, and Jackson got hooked up with drug problems. He even did some time in prison for a drug conspiracy charge.
His life took a dramatic turn when he got out of prison after serving seven years. He started going to the gym, where someone encouraged him to be bodybuilder.
“I stuck with it,” he said, claim he gets motivated at people telling him he looks great. “I can’t sit still. The older I get, the more ‘up’ I want to be.”
