Ali Lawan, a middle-aged man, was paraded by the Bauchi State Police Command after he was arrested for reportedly rapping his 3-year-old daughter in his home in the state’s Kirfi LGA.
SP Ahmed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, said in a statement released on Saturday, January 15, that the suspect was apprehended after the victim’s 24-year-old mother filed a report at Kirfi Divisional Police Headquarters.
The statement reads;
“On 9/01/2022 at about 1700hrs one Maryam Abdullahi aged 24yrs of Anguwar Doya, Kirfi L.G.A, Bauchi State, reported at Kirfi Divisional police Headquarters that on the same date at about 1800hrs, her husband one Ali Lawan, asked her to bring him a mat to lay down her daughter Hajara (not real name) aged 3yrs to sleep,”
“Later, she came back to the room and met Hajara (not real name) laying down unconscious sweating and vomiting through her mouth, nose and her private part was swollen. On receipt of the report a team of detectives were drafted to the scene, victim was rushed to the General Hospital Kirfi for immediate medical attention.
“Doctors certified her to have been raped. Suspect was arrested and investigation is ongoing. which the suspect will be charged to court.”

Remember how Bobrisky was in the state for an event and used his Snapchat to convey his delight at being there? With utmost delight, he called on the Oba of Benin to marry him.
The state’s residents were outraged, and they came out in force to protest him for making such disparaging words about their cherished monarch, as well as to threaten to deal with him if he was seen at the event for which he came.
Bobrisky was notably absent from the function he was supposed to attend due to the threats he had received. He also apologized publicly for his remark.
Femi Branch claimed in an Instagram live session that Edo indigenes came out to denounce Bobrisky’s remark because they revere their king. The actor wondered if this could happen if Bobrisky requested a Yoruba king to marry him.
“A lot of people meet me and say, ‘I don’t really watch Nigerian movies but I watch your own movies’. With due apologies, that is one of the dumbest things people say. Is my own movie a Togolese one? That is one of the reasons I respect Benin culture.
Look at what happened recently. Bobrisky made a joke. But, there are some institutions you don’t joke with.
Bobrisky could say he is a Yoruba guy (or babe); however ‘she’ wants to be addressed. He must have been seeing how some Yoruba Obas have been behaving in recent times. That must have made him feel he could make such a comment about the revered Oba of Benin. It was when he made that statement he realized the Oba of Benin isn’t just any king.
Some people thought the reactions were a bit too much but Benin people don’t joke with their culture. And that is because the Oba of Benin does not ‘carry himself’ anyhow.
Our culture and tradition are dying by the minute and people don’t even seem to be concerned. There was an uproar by the indigenes of Benin because they don’t joke with their king and their king also doesn’t joke with their tradition. Do you think if Bobrisky had made such a statement about a Yoruba oba, people would have talked? Let us tell ourselves the truth. Is it normal to see our kings on Instagram frolicking with ‘commoners’?”
