Some few hours ago, there were wide reports suggesting that 2 Ghanaian Members of Parliament have tested positive for Coronavirus.
However, this has been confirmed by the minority chief whip, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka.
According to the Member of Parliament for Asawase constituency, 2 Members of Parliament and 13 Parliamentary Staff have tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus.
Reacting to this, he stated that the Public Affairs Director of Parliament and the Majority Leader lied to the Ghanaian public when they dismissed earlier media reports about the test results.
He added that his results came out negative, however, if it had turned out positive he would have gladly communicated to his constituents.
He urged the infected members of Parliament to do the same to enable constituents who came into contact with them to take steps to test.
Muntaka Mubarak confirmed this in an interview on Joy News saying;
“When things happen this way, you tell the Ghanaian people especially the media that look, we don’t want to create fear and that we are not done with the tests yet so let’s wait. When we are done we will communicate to you. But when you go out there to deny and yet you know that what happened is a fact and you lie to the people that pay us. What happened is the fact and is the truth.
On Wednesday one MP and one staff tested positive and on Thursday one MP and 12 staff also tested positive.”
