The two-year-old girl survived unharmed after the mother threw her to safety as they escaped a burning high-rise building in Durban during protests.

Speaking to Reuters, the 26-year-old mother named Naledi Manyoni revealed that she was on the 16th floor of the building when the fire started and she had to escape with her daughter as they run downstairs.

As spectators screamed in horror, Manyoni climbed to a ledge above the roadway and threw her daughter down to the people.

She revealed that she was scared after throwing her daughter down but was calm after she landed safely. She further narrated that she couldn’t escape and leave her daughter behind, thus her reason for throwing her off the building.

Recall, South Africa is currently in the midst of one of the greatest post-apartheid upheavals, which began last week when former president Jacob Zuma was imprisoned for failing to appear before the Zondo commission.
