The Tottenham Hotspur manager touched on the probability that the Premier league champions can be stripped off their 2017/2018 EPL cup and may be given to Manchester United who finished 19 points behind them with Mourinho being the manager of the red devils that season.

Manchester City have been slapped with a two year ban from the champions league for breaching fair play rules. The discovery was made after a hacker, Rui Pinto, hacked into the emails of the premier league side to reveal some little secrets by football teams. The management of Man City have been also fined £25 million in addition to the ban.

According to Naijapals.com, the Premier League committee is also said to be preparing their own investigation into the champions’ financial irregularities which could lead to deduction of points and strip of titles. Mourinho is hopeful that United who finished 19 points behind their neighbours in 2017-18 may be given the title.

Tottenham, thrashed Aston Villa with a 3-2 win on Sunday and that moves them up to fifth position on the league log. Their will now qualify them for a Champions League place if UEFA turns down City’s appeal.

In Mourinho’s Speech, he said:

I have to ask if the team that finished second in 2018 is going to be champions,” Mourinho said.

“Yes or no? That would be interesting but joking apart, I just wait calmly. Fourth or fifth, I just think about doing the best we can.

“The more points we can get the better position we can get. At the end of the season we’ll see where we are. If we are sixth or seventh, then it doesn’t matter if the fifth goes to Champions League.

“From what I got is that Uefa punish them but they have the chance to appeal.

“I think until the appeal finishes, Manchester City have the benefit of the doubt. In the end of the process we will see if they are punished or not.”
