The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has lamented about how the recent power outages in Kumasi have affected him.

In a recent submission, the overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom stated that intermittent power outages have damaged most of his electrical appliances.

He made this submission when speaking with the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who is also the member of Parliament for Manhyia South when he paid during a courtesy visit to the Manhyia Palace.

In his submission, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II said;

“I have been experiencing power outages recently. The light goes off and comes back without caution. All my appliances have been damaged because of the outages.”

Reacting to this, the minister stated that the recent power outages in the region were a result of a fallen telecom mast that damaged two towers belonging to the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo).

In his response, he also said;

“We are working assiduously on the GRIDCo lines that have fallen. We cannot lie to you, we are asking you to support us with your prayer and love, I have nowhere to go, I won’t sit idle for power in Kumasi to be toyed with. We have just encountered difficulty, but soon, it will all be resolved.”
