Ghana’s president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has presented an amount of GHC 100,000 to the two KNUST students who produced sanitary pads from banana and plantain fibre in order to finance their business venture.

The students identified as Matilda Asantewaa Sampong and Emilee Otoo Quayson, have produced sanitary pads from banana and plantain fibre and their cash prize is composed of a GHC60,000 investment package and a personal donation valued at GHC40,000 by the president.

The report indicated that Miss Quayson and Miss Sampong presented their business idea and responded to questions from a panel of judges and present at the event were the president, ministers of state as well as members of the diplomatic corps.

President Akufo-Addo stated that the winners demonstrated determination and creativity, and for that reason, it was important for them to develop their talent and skills.
