The Nigerian Army has reacted to the sad death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru.

Recall that Ghgossip gathered that Ibrahim Attahiru has died in a plane crash while on an official trip to Kaduna.

The statement signed by Edward Gabkwet, the force’s Director of Public Relations and Information affirmed the sudden development. reads;

“An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon,”

However, the Nigerian Army has also confirmed the sad incident in a statement signed by Mohammed Yerima, Brigadier General Director Army Public Relations.

According to the Nigerian Army, 10 lives were lost in the crash at Kaduna on Friday, 21 May 2021.

The Nigerian Army regrets to announce the passing away of its Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru. The sad event occurred following an air crash in Kaduna which also claimed the lives of 10 other officers including the crew.

The COAS was enroute Kaduna from Abuja on Friday, 21 May, 2021 when the unfortunate incident happened. Details of the sad incident and burial arrangements will be communicated soon. Mohammed Yerima  Brigadier General Director Army Public Relations  21 May 2021

Meanwhile, Nigerian senator, Shehu Sani has also condoled with the families of the lost souls. Taking to Twitter he wrote;

@ShehuSani wrote: “The death of the Chief of Army Staff Attahiru Ibrahim and others in a plane crash is a national tragedy.May their souls Rest In Peace.My deepest condolences to @HQNigerianArmy,their families and the nation.”
