Nigerians went gay upon hearing, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, calling for the immediate shut down of all offices occupied by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Ajuri Ngelale, senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on public affairs relayed the information to the public on twitter which states that Offices of SARS located in places like Ikorodu, Ijebu-Ode and in Obada Oko will be occupied by police commissioners.

SARS is set to be dissolved totally due to their unwarranted activity which led to the killing of the talented former player of Remo Stars club, Kazeem Tiamiyu on saturday, February 22, in Sagamu area, Ogun State.

The disbandment of the unit was announced verbally by the deputy inspector-general of police, Peter Ogunyanwo, on Tuesday, February 25, during a condolence visit to the state governor, Dapo Abiodun. Ogunyanwo explained the decision of dissolving SARS is part of ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the police for service delivery.

The governor and his entourage visited mother of the deceased and made some commitments which are already in motion. He said;

“The death of your son has played a role in getting some of our zonal offices reorganised. Our concern now is justice for the deceased, how do we get it? If we don’t have adequate information as to what actually happened, we will not be able to get justice for the deceased and he will not forgive us wherever he is”
