The indefinite ban placed on two of the frontrunners when it comes to Dancehall in Ghana, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale has finally been officially lifted by the board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA).

After a war ensued between them, the ban was imposed on the two dancehall artists in 2019, resulting in Stonebwoy brandishing a weapon in public.
“The VODAFONE GHANA MUSIC AWARDS (VGMA) Board has lifted the ban put on Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, Ghanaian artists.
This decision was taken on 28 January 2021, at the inaugural meeting of the 22nd Board of the VGMA.
In 2019, the indefinite ban was imposed as a result of a brawl sparked by the two artists during the VGMA 20th Anniversary Awards Ceremony, which interrupted the ceremony and threatened the safety of patrons.
Accordingly, both have been disqualified from participating in the 21st VGMA held in 2020.
However, the Board decided to return them to the system, anticipating that such altercations would bring them back.
The path to the 22nd VGMA edition began with a call for nominations for works by music artists to nominate their songs, EP’s and albums which were released between 1 January and 31 December 2020.
On Monday, 15 February 2021, the call for nominations will close.
