Coronavirus pandemic arrived in Africa early February and has been spreading fast. So far, of the 54 countries, 51 have recorded cases while three are safe.

The three countries are Lesotho, Comoros, and São Tomé and Príncipe have zero coronavirus cases.

Africa has a total tally of 9,198 as at April 6, 2020.

Some 39 countries have also recorded local community infections of the virus with 12 countries reporting of only imported cases.

The continent has recorded 414 deaths so far with recoveries now 813. South Africa still remains the leading country with 1,655 cases of coronavirus.

The spread of the virus has led to many countries being placed under lockdown.

In Ghana where 214 cases have been recorded with five deaths, the two major cities Accra and Kumasi plus Tema and Kasoa are under lockdown.
