Ghanaian Blogger and recently ranked 36th by Avance Media, Jibriel Suliah has come out to remind Ghanaians on how Government has delayed paying the allowance of student nurses and questioned the Government on the amount spent in hiring an aircraft for Presidential travels.
The Blogger in a post on his social media handles also reminded the government and Ghanaians about the alleged Ghc10million spent on Presidential travels within 3 months raised by the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Earlier this year, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa alleged the government paid £15,000 an hour as the President opted for luxurious aircraft instead of using the Presidential jet on his travels to France, Belgium, and South Africa.
Whilst the nation is yet to be informed of the actual cost incurred by both trips, Mr. Jibriel has questioned why the Presidential jets are been used by other Presidents and cannot be used by the President of Ghana.
Read post;
“Okay, we agree, the President is not chartering a “luxurious” aircraft if that is what Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin is saying.
The question we are asking is that what have we gained after spending Ghc10million to charter a jet for the President within a period of 3 months.
Secondly, the likes of former President Kuffour, Ex-Prez. Mills and John Mahama never hired aircraft in their time. Rather they used different alternatives when they did not use the Presidential jet, how different is the scenario today. So much that we have to blow up Ghc3million on Presidential travels in such a short period?
Ghana’s Presidential jet is been used by the President of Liberian, George Manneh Oppong Weah and it’s shocking to hear the government state “for security reasons” our own can’t use our jet.
The same jet was used earlier this year by the President on his visit to Nigeria for an Ecowas agenda and I applaud that decision but today, can not be used to attend the UN General meeting.
Let me remind you, Ghc10million within 3 months to just hire a jet, yet student nurses are still organizing Press Conferences asking for their monthly allowances.”
Ghana’s Falcon 900 Ex jet, was seen flying the Liberian President, George Oppong Weah to Ghana for an Emergency ECOWAS Summit in Ghana today, September 15, 2021, myinfo.com.gh reported.
