The overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has reacted to the death of his Asian counterpart, Pastor David Yonggi Cho.

David Yonggi Cho, was the founder of the Yoido Full Gospel Church, a Pentecostal megachurch whose members number in the hundreds of thousands. As many as 200,000 people attended weekly services, drawn by Cho’s hopeful preaching and optimistic messages about a better life.

Cho, who is survived by three sons, had been in poor health since suffering a brain hemorrhage in 2020,

In reaction to the news of his death, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has recounted the moment he had an encounter with the man of God.

RCCG issued a statement as Adeboye mourned the death of Pastor Cho.

He wrote: “Several years ago, I visited South Korea because I heard of a man who had the largest Church in the world.

Adeboye recounted how Yonggi Cho told some church members who came to church on one Sunday not to come to church the next Sunday.

“I said God, so you can do this?”

“Some years ago, I returned to South Korea, I had a meeting with the same man. The first time I was there, people like me could not come near the office but this time around, I went to his office at his invitation, when we met he said “I have heard of you, will you please pray for me?

“Till we meet again on the resurrection morning, Rest in God’s presence Pastor Dr. David Yonggi Cho,”
