Renowned Nigerian author, Reno Omokri has claimed that many people are in torment due to the fact that these people have no mentors in their lives.
The ‘table shaker’ made this known in a recent post he made on his verified social media handle on the popular social media platform, Instagram.
The post he made reads;
“Do you know why you are in torment and you foment poverty? Because, you have 500 Facebook friends, 5000 Twitter followers, and 50000 Instagram followers. But you dont have even one mentor. Read Scripture. NOBODY in Scripture succeeded without a mentor. Even Christ had John the Baptiste to baptise Him to fulfil all righteousness. Get a mentor, or you will never fulfil all the righteousness that is required to succeed in life!”
The post he made got some reactions from social media users and below are some of these reactions;
magnificencejosh – So deep but true. There was a particular guy who joined my department, I saw some good traits in him so I took him as my mentee which he was aware that I was mentoring him. I showed him how to get things done, who he need to see in the area of my assignment. He literally did everything for me and we discussed life together just to trust him. I gave him so many platforms to expressed himself, I introduced him to my boss and everybody liked him because he was just a good boy which I was so proud of. I really trusted him. I practically told him everything about me. After some years, there was a need to changed the head of the department, it’s obvious that I would go to another department, a week to that effect, my mentee started showing his real color as if he was waiting for that day to come, I couldn’t believe my eyes what I saw. People that have seen us together was quite amazed to see how he was behaving. I thought I was dreaming. I pity myself to have fallen like a pawpaw. He became assistant HOD while I was removed as the HOD. I began to see the true nature of Human beings. I felt different emotions, I went through many pains, the guy betrayed me and I fell flat. I picked up myself and moved away. Later my boss called me we discussed things out. I learnt that, you don’t know true nature of a man until he’s at the corridor of power. Since then have promised myself not to have any mentee again.
