In Ghana, how to manage national assets is a major problem. Most of these national monuments that could have served as major tourist site have been left to rot.
One of such buildings is the building where the the ‘Bond of 1844’ was signed. The the Bond of 1844 at Fomena-Adansi in a building which is not in a very deplorable state.
The bond of 1844 was signed by Commander Hill and eight fante chiefs who came from Assin, Denkyira, Abora, Anumabu and Cape Coast. Later eleven other chiefs signed the treaty who were the chiefs of Dixcove, Wassa, Fiase, Gomoa and James Town, Accra.
As we speak, the building in which this historical event took place is in a very deplorable state, which leaves one question on our minds; ‘WOULD WE EVER TAKE GOOD CARE OF NATIONAL ASSETS?’ Maybe YES, maybe NO.
