An Accra-based taxi driver, Maxwell Adu, has become has won admiration on social media after he returned expensive items left in his car by a passenger. Caroline Ziedeng, the owner of the items which included a Macbook and an iPad, left in the taxi driver’s car after hiring him to take her home.

A car user herself, Caroline’s vehicle had developed a fault around the Woolworth traffic light in Accra and she decided to pick a taxi home.

Upon reaching the house late in the night, she realised that she had left the items and she even chased the back to where she picked the taxi in a desperate bid to locate the driver. After her efforts proved futile, she went back home and tried to get some sleep. While struggling to sleep, she got a call from an associate around midnight.

The associate was calling because he had been contacted by the driver who found his number in a notepad Caroline had left behind. Apparently, the driver had reached out to some of the contacts in the notepad in order to get the lady notified of the items she left in the car. Upon being notified, Caroline reached out to the driver and arranged to meet him in the morning for collection.

The driver brought everything intact the next morning as discussed. Touched by the driver’s gesture and impressed with his honesty, Caroline took to social media to share the story. According to her, a conversation with the driver revealed that the car he was using was his own and he would love to work as a private driver.

Caroline thus pleaded with the general public to help find a job for the man saying “if nothing at all you can trust that he’s an honest person. His name is Adu Maxwell and can be.
