In our part of the world, most parents are of the view that their children are obliged to take care of them in their old age.
Most parents go to the extent of deciding and choosing what they want their children to do for them and these kids are so much pressurized that they feel like they have failed in life.
However, taking a closer look at things, one can clearly see that children should never be considered as retirement plans.
There is no trace of any comment that states that children should be responsible for their parents, however, it is the responsibility of the parent to look after their children.
Parents catering for their kids promote the basis on which these children can reciprocate that act on their own children and not the parent.
One may argue that since the parent has suffered to bring up his or her child, the child should also reciprocate that gesture.
We are not disputing that fact, but it should also be imposed on these children as a responsibility.
In this era of economic hardship, parents adding their financial pressures on children will definitely have a major devastating effect on these children.
It is evident in the rate at which suicide cases are rampant in our times, who knows maybe the main reasons why these people committed these acts is based on how their parents made them feel like failures.
We would urge parents to draw their own retirement plans which will, in turn, be a plus for the should their children take it upon themselves to take the responsibility of catering for them.
