Chief Ayirimi Emami was charged by the Delta State Police Command with invading the Palace of the Olu of Warri before a magistrate court in Warri.

Ayiri Emami, the dethroned Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom, was charged by the police before a Warri South Chief Magistrates’ Court in Delta State on Wednesday, Nov. 24, for embezzling two royal crowns worth N2 billion.

Chief Emami was arrested by the police and charged with three counts in Charge No:MW/178C/2021.

Part of the charges read,

“That you Chief Ayirimi Emami “M” and others now at large on 30th March 2021 at about 11:30pm(2330hrs) at Olu Palace, Warri in the Warri Magisterial District did conspire among yourselves to commit felony such as burglary and stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap C21 Vol. 1 laws of Delta State 2006.

“That you Chief Chief Ayirimi Emami ”m” and others now at large on the 30th March 2021 at about 11:30pm(2330hrs) at Olu Palace, Warri in the Warri Magisterial District with intent to commit a felony broke into a dwelling house of the Olu of Warri and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Code Cap C21 Vol.1 Laws of Delta State 2006.

“That you Chief Ayirimi Emami”m”and others now at large on the 30th March at about 11:30pm(2330hrs) at Olu Palace Warri in the Warri Magisterial District did stole two crowns value two billion naira(N2,000,000,000.00) property of Itseliri Kingdom and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap C21 Vol.1 laws of Delta State 2006.”

Mrs. Diejomaoh, a Chief Magistrate, presided over the court, which granted Chief Ayirimi Emami bail with two sureties each worth two million naira. The two sureties, according to the Court, must be public workers at level fifteen.

The matter was then rescheduled for a hearing on January 19, 2022.
