The Jamestown District Police has arrested five (5) suspects including a worker of a Chinese wholesale shop for robbing the shop at Adedenkpo, Accra.
According to the police, on 27th December 2019 at about 3: 30 pm four suspects namely Alhassan Yusif, Charles Ekpi, Kwasi Emmanuel Ahiangbe alias Abongo and Richard Yeboah forcibly entered the shop attacked the Chinese woman and succeeded in taking a backpack containing unspecified amount of money being proceeds of goods sold, her Chinese passport, sales book some other important things.
Eyewitnesses, Alhassan Yusif and Charles Ekpi were arrested in the neighborhood, but two other accomplices escaped with the booty.
With credible information available to the police and the assistance of the earlier accomplices arrested, police immediately proceeded to Kasoa / Central Region and apprehended suspects, Kwasi Emmanuel Ahiangbe alias Abongo and Richard Yeboah from their hideouts. Complainant’s backpack containing cash the sum of Eleven Thousand, Five Hundred and Eighty Ghana Cedis (GH¢11,580.00), her Chinese passport, three pocket notebooks, and sales book were retrieved from suspect Kwasi Emmanuel Ahiangbe alias Abongo and cash the sum of Nine Thousand, One Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 9,100.00) was also retrieved from suspect Richard Yeboah. Exhibits retained. Further investigations led to the arrest of Paul Nartey as the one who leaked information to his accomplices leading to the attack. Suspects detained in police custody. Suspects were sent to court today for remand pending further investigation.
