President Cyril Ramaphosa has taken to social media to eulogize deceased South African minister, Jackson Mthembu.

The minister in the South African presidency was confirmed dead some days ago after suffering from COVID-19 complications.

Taking to his verified social media handle on Twitter, the head of state shared some photos that captured some of the memorable moments and added the caption;

“Farewell my dear brother, my comrade and friend.   Ulala ngoxolo Mvelase ka Guda!   Rest in peace. #RIPJacksonMthembu

This is the second post the president has made to honour the former statesman. In his first post, he wrote;

“It is with deep sorrow and shock that we announce that Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu passed away earlier today from COVID-related complications. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time of loss.

Minister Mthembu was an exemplary leader, an activist and life-long champion of freedom and democracy. He was a much-loved and greatly respected colleague and comrade, whose passing leaves our nation at a loss.

I extend my deepest sympathies to the Minister’s family, to his colleagues, comrades and many friends.”
