The President of Ghana H.E Nana Akuffo-Addo has lifted ban placed on all religious bodies with strict social distancing protocols effective June 5th.

In the 10th Address by the president, he laid down some guidelines which must be adhered to during gatherings at the Churches and Mosque. According to the President, each church or mosque should consist not more than 100 members with about 1 meter distance from each other.

An abridged format for religious services can commence. Twenty-five percent (25%) attendance, with a maximum number of one hundred (100) congregants, can worship at a time in church or at the mosque, with a mandatory one metre rule of social distancing between congregants. In
addition to the mandatory wearing of masks for all persons at all times in churches and mosques, a register of names and contact details of all worshipers and hand washing facilities and sanitizers must be provided, with a maximum duration of one (1) hour for each service.

He also stated that every church and mosque should make provision of washing soap, water and also sanitizers for use before members enters the auditorium. H.E Nana Addo has also urged all religious bodies (churches and Mosques) to disinfect the premises before use.

The President has however, urged all religious bodies to dedicate the first gathering in praying for the country. He has however sent a stern warning to all religious bodies to adhere to all directives laid down to prevent the spread of the virus or get banned till further notice.
